Day 01 :

Arrival – Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

Your Lake Manyara safari begins with a warm welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Your driver-guide transfers you to your lodge near Lake Manyara National Park, with a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley (approximately 2 hours from Arusha). Upon arrival, check in and enjoy a delicious lunch. In the late afternoon, take a gentle walk along the park's edge to familiarize yourself with the landscape and spot some of the resident birdlife. As the sun sets over the Rift Valley escarpment, return to the lodge for a welcome dinner and briefing on the days ahead. Overnight at your Lake Manyara lodge. Meals: Lunch & Dinner.

Day 02 :

Lake Manyara Birding – Flamingos & Waterbirds

After breakfast, enter Lake Manyara National Park for a full day of birdwatching. The park's soda lake is a haven for waterbirds, with thousands of lesser flamingos coloring the shoreline pink. Look for greater flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, storks, and herons feeding in the shallows. With over 390 bird species recorded, keep a checklist handy and watch for African fish eagles, malachite kingfishers, bee-eaters, and a variety of raptors. Lake Manyara is renowned for this rare behavior, where lions climb into branches to escape the heat and catch the cool breeze from the lake. Spend the morning tracking lions with your expert guide, who knows the territory and pride movements. Keep your camera ready, as sightings of lions lounging in trees are truly unforgettable. In the afternoon, explore the park's groundwater forest, home to elephants, hippos, giraffes, zebras, baboons, and bushbucks. The forest canopy shelters blue monkeys and a variety of bird species. Day 04 :

Optional Activities – Canoe Safari & Treetop Walkway

Begin with a peaceful canoe safari on Lake Manyara, gliding through the open water as you take in the dramatic Rift Valley scenery and watch wildlife along the shoreline. Alternatively, experience the park's canopy walkway, one of the longest treetop walks in Africa, with intermittent viewing decks offering unique perspectives of birds, butterflies, and monkeys. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in a different part of the park to search for species you may have missed. Day 05 :

Lake Manyara – Return to Arusha

Enjoy a final leisurely breakfast with views of the Rift Valley. Take one last game drive in the park, catching any species you may have missed. Check out from the lodge and begin your journey back to Arusha, with a stop for lunch along the way. Arrive in Arusha in the afternoon, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
