Day 01 :

Arrival & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your gorilla adventure begins with a warm welcome at Entebbe International Airport. From here, you have two options: take a scheduled domestic flight to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip (approximately 1.5 hours), followed by a scenic drive to your lodge, or enjoy a scenic 8-9 hour drive through Uganda's breathtaking countryside. Arrive at your lodge on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the late afternoon. Settle into your comfortable room, take in the forest views, and prepare for tomorrow's life-changing encounter. In the evening, meet your guide for a briefing on the habituation experience, including safety guidelines and what to expect

Day 02 :

Gorilla Trekking Experience

This is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You'll be assigned to a gorilla family undergoing habituation—a process where researchers and trackers gradually accustom wild gorillas to human presence. This is a full-day experience, allowing you to spend up to four hours with the gorillas, observing their behavior, feeding patterns, social interactions, and daily routines. Accompanying you are expert trackers, researchers, and armed rangers who ensure both your safety and the gorillas' well-being. After locating the family, you'll begin your observation. Watch the silverback lead his group, mothers nurse their infants, juveniles tumble and play, and the entire family interacts in their natural habitat. This extended time offers profound insights into gorilla society that standard one-hour treks cannot match.

Day 03 :

Gorilla Habituation Experience (Extended Encounter)

After breakfast, the day offers a choice of activities. For those who wish to repeat the magic, a second gorilla trekking permit can be arranged (subject to availability and additional cost) for a standard one-hour encounter with a different gorilla family. Alternatively, enjoy a guided forest walk along Bwindi's beautiful trails, where you may spot other primates including black-and-white colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys. Birdwatchers will delight in the Albertine Rift endemics found only in this region—African Green Broadbill, Handsome Francolin, and Shelley's Crimsonwing. You can also visit the nearby Batwa community, the indigenous forest people who share their traditional knowledge, hunting techniques, and stories. Return to the lodge in the afternoon for relaxation. Overnight at your Bwindi lodge.

Day 04 :

Return Transfer & Departure

After a final leisurely breakfast overlooking the forest, check out and begin your return journey to Entebbe. If you choose to fly, transfer to the airstrip for your domestic flight back to Entebbe. For those driving, enjoy the scenic return through Uganda's rolling hills and local villages. Arrive at Entebbe International Airport in time for your departure flight, or extend your stay with one of our additional Uganda safari packages.
